Project Completion: Sidney Stringer Academy
Friday, 18th November 2016
Measom have just completed the Sidney Stringer Academy in Coventry for the contractor Thomas Vale. The Sidney Stringer development is an excellent two story primary school building build as an addition to the existing Sidney Stringer campus. Located within the city centre of Coventry, the new primary school will initially provide new places for 60 pupils in two reception classes. By the end of 2021 there will be an additional two classes of students per year.
Working alongside the main contractor Bouygues UK (Thomas Vale), Measom carried out SFS, dry lining, suspended ceilings, plastering and acoustic wall and ceiling baffles. The Measom team on site also expertly executed a number of exceptional features including shadow edge trims (to the ceiling perimeters) curved bulkheads, classroom roof sky lights and acoustic ceiling baffles.
Andy Haden the Site Manager “I am proud of the high quality service Measom Dryline provided during this project. Both myself & our operatives combined worked very hard to achieve tight handover dates while maintaining an excellent standard of work.”
The building had to be handed over to the school in two phases to ensure that they could achieve occupation for the beginning of the new school year (September 2016), with the second hand over being completed in November 2016. This was a challenge for all of the trade disciplines because the typical sequences of work could not be adhered to and therefore new sequences of work had to be developed.
Peter Tooze the Project Manager for the Sidney Stringer Academy “This was my first development taking on a project management role for Measom Dryline and I am delighted with the fantastic effort from our site team in ensuring we provided Bouygues UK with an exceptional product. This project gave me the opportunity to progress my career further and I am grateful to have been given this chance.”
